Produced for the MR PORTER journal, ‘The Reinvention’ is a stylised short film based on the story of a 32 year-old Mr. Ashley Revell, a professional gambler who sold everything he had and placed it all as one bet on a roulette table.
Starring Michael K. Williams, actor from The Wire and Boardwalk Empire, this aesthetically gratifying retelling of a daring gambler is just one example of some of the excellent content that can be found at MR PORTER. For the interview with Michael K. Williams, click here.
“What is style? Is it something you’re born with, or something you perfect? I mean, style can’t be dictated by rules. It lives and breathes, like skin. Style is opinion. Clear as ice, or the turn of an ace. Style is not worn, it permeates. Style is when they’re running you out of town, and you make it look like they’re leading a parade.”
For Wildfox’s second season of swimwear, photographer Mark Hunter had the pleasure of shooting Brazilian born Cintia Dicker in a 60s themed photoshoot. With styling from swimwear designer Leilani Shimoda and designer Kimberley Gordon, the result is a visually gratifying and engaging campaign.
“The new collection is inspired by a totally American girl who lives for traveling. She dreams of England and hotel rooms, she loves flowers and diamonds, and she loves decadence! She’s a Bond Girl, a 60’s bombshell who dyes her hair all shades of colors and meets beautiful men everywhere she goes.” – Kimberly Gordon
Combining a classic Jaguar E-Type, Wildfox’s versatile collection of swimwear, and a couple of guns for good measure, the stunning Cintia Dicker plays the part of a Bond girl perfectly.
To showcase the latest from Hugo Boss, the German luxury style house teamed up with Schön! for a Casino Royale themed photo shoot. Raoul Keil and Huma Humayun (Editor-in-Chief and Features Editor of Schön! respectively) came up with the concept, with models River Delfin Viiperi and Constanza Saravia taking the lead roles.
Ritz Fine Jewellery contributed to the outfits worn in the photos, which photographer Fulvio Maiani captured exceptionally. The photo shoot took place at The Ritz Club in London, which was the perfect location for the Bond styled session.
The Sartorialist was started by Scott Schumann in 2005, with the sole intention of taking photographs of stylish people he met on the streets of New York and sharing these images online. Seven years later, Schumann is one of the biggest influences to the readers and writers of style blogging, with his blog being one of the most-read in the fashion world.
In August 2009, Mr. Schumann released his first photography book, ‘The Sartorialist’. The book featured some photos already released on his website, though most had never been seen before.
Following the success of his first photography book, Scott Schumann has now released his second; ‘The Sartorialist: Closer’. The goal of his second book is to look deeper into what people wear, and more importantly, why they wear it.
From where it all started in New York, to Moscow, Stockholm, Paris and more, The Sartorialist: Closer is filled with exquisitely stylish men and women who have provided the inspiration that Scott Schumann has always pursued.
